Invite Foreigners Climbing Mount Agung, Local Guide Make a Surprising Confession.

KARANGASEM – The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Karangasem regrets the act of a local guide from Karangasem who climbed Mount Agung by inviting tourists.

In fact, there is clearly a prohibition not to climb Mount Agung because it is still level III. Where activities within a 4 km radius are prohibited by the Center of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).

But some local guides turned out to be stubborn too. They are determined to invite tourists to climb to the summit of Mount Agung.

In fact, photos of the climbing activity are shared on Wayan Widi Yasa’s Facebook account and have been viral lately.

In the photo there are six climbers. Two of them are women. They are foreigners, only one local person, the guide who invites the tourists.

They seem to enjoy the puff of smoke from the crater of Mount Agung which is still active. What these climbers do is very dangerous.

Because in these conditions Mount Agung can erupt anytime. “What we regret is that they are local guides who should also provide education”, said Karangasem BPBD Chief Executive Officer Ida Ketut Arimbawa.

Arimbawa himself knows there are climbers who climbed from the photos uploaded by the climber. So far the local guides from Besakih, Jungutan, Pucang, Kubu are very obedient.

They refrain from climbing. Because the conditions are still dangerous. Even though they are experts in climbing mountains, in this condition it is still very dangerous.

Even more unfortunate are their photos intentionally uploaded on social media. This will certainly invites other climbers to ride.

“If anything happens, we will be the guilty officers”, he said. Because if there was an eruption and there were victims of course the Karangasem Regency Government would be in trouble.

Local climber Wayan Widi Yasa admitted that he was climbing. The photos were taken when he was climbing last month.
