DENPASAR – “Tried, handed down an imprisonment sentence for the defendant Erick Kai Koester for eight months”, said chief judge I Made Pasek in a hearing at the Denpasar District Court, Tuesday (7/1).

In the verdict, the defendant Erick who had blond hair was found guilty of mild maltreatment in accordance with Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code. The verdict itself was down 2 months from the previous Prosecutor’s claim of 10 months in prison.

For this decision, the defendant Erick immediately stated that he accepted the decision. The same was stated by the Public Prosecutor I Nyoman Triarta Kurniawan. “We also accept Your Honor”, concluded the Public Prosecutor. After the trial the atmosphere of emotion appeared when the defendant’s mother who attended the trial cried after hearing the verdict. In the trial it was revealed, Erick carried out an act of persecution against Gede Budi Yadnya who was a construction worker. At that time the victim was on guard in a restaurant construction project in front of ‘Central Parkir’, Kuta.

At that time the victim witness Gede Budi saw the defendant entering the project, then the victim witness reprimanded the defendant, but at that time the defendant was drunk and talked harshly.

Next, the defendant asked for cigarettes and the victim witness Gede Budi gave the defendant a cigarette. After leaving the project area, the defendant went to a supermarket not far from the project site. At this time the victim was hit by his right ear by the defendant. After hitting him, the defendant had entered the supermarket and ran away until he was finally arrested at the place where he was staying.
