Search Operation Kuta Beach after reported missing tourist from Colombia

Search Operation Kuta Beach by helicopter on Sunday morning 05/01/2020 after the disappearing from the Colombian tourist  Lucas Barrales while swimming Double Six Beach at 10.45 AM infront the Anantara Hotel, Seminyak-Kuta. First reports from can from his friend that he never returned from the ocean. Lucas Barrales is travelling in Bali together with his wife and baby.

Two Basarnas Bali rescue teams, together with Balawista who were on duty at Kuta Beach, were immediately mobilized to conduct a sweep using 2 units of jet ski. Meanwhile, a second team of 8 personnel was deployed to Patra Jasa Beach to unload 1 unit of rubber boat. The search began at around 1:45 pm. An hour later the rubber boat team followed. Head of the Bali Basarnas Operations Section, IB Surya Wirawan directly descended to the scene, coordinated and led the SAR operation.

“In addition to sweeping efforts at sea, the air take off team from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 16.05 Wita used the Bell 429 Helicopter owned by the Bali Regional Police,” he explained. After an aerial search the helicopter returned with zero results. SAR operations that lasted until evening did not work. The joint SAR team has not found any signs of the fateful foreigner.

On Monday morning 06/01/2020 the research wil continue . The combined SAR team will be divided into 4 areas of search in waters, ground sweeping and also search through air monitoring. “We are still focused on the estimated position of drowning victims, and certainly expanded according to the calculation of current and wind movements, 25 Nm² of SRU air sweeping area, 15, 5 Nm² by SRU sea, while the land SRU will run from LKP towards the north and south for approximately 10 Km, “closed Adi Day.
According to data from BMKG this morning, Monday (1/6/2020) the weather conditions around the location are cloudy until it rains, winds head east at 9-12 Kts, with surface currents heading east at 0.4 Kts. Recorded wave height of 1 – 1.5 meters and visibility monitored 7.6 Km.
In addition to personnel from Basarnas Bali, SAR operations also involved SAR elements from the Bali Police Directorate General, Bali Police, Kuta Police, Balawista Kuta, as well as victims’ families and communities. The main equipment to be deployed are 3 rubber boat units, 2 jet ski units and Bell 429 helicopters.
