The government spokesman Achmad Yurianto joked about the news circulation that in Bali there would be a lockdown so that the spread of the corona virus could be prevented. He heard that Bali would prevent a lockdown on March 25, 2020. Apparently, on March25 that’s Nyepi Day when all activities on the island including flights will be stopped for a day. He said Bali would be locked down and hopes that no one will go there on that special day.
Officials also conceded the island’s hospitals were not ready for a major outbreak and that it needed its own laboratory facilities capable of quickly diagnosing swab tests, rather than relying on slow results from Jakarta.
The Indonesian Doctors Association on Thursday urged the government to allow more laboratories outside Jakarta to test for COVID-19, and for the country to begin using rapid-testing techniques such as those conducted in Singapore, which can detect the virus within three hours.
