Mauritanian Woman Arrested After Stealing Credit Cards in Bali – A foreign national from Mauritania named Roughaya Abeidi was arrested by Kuta police officers on Thursday (10/31)  around 22:00.

The woman who is still a student arrested for draining the contents of a British foreign national credit card named Holly Jemima Hartley, 22.

The alleged perpetrators began with a report of the victim to Kuta Sector Police with the report number LP-B / 257 / X / 2019 / Bali / Resta Dps / Sek Kuta, dated October 22th, 2019.

According to the victim’s report, the incident began when the victim checked at Ala Hostel, Jalan Drupadi Basangkasa, Seminyak.

In one hostel room, the canar contains six people, two others are the victim’s friend.

The victim put her carrying bag in the room and then went out with two friends to the beach.

She left a bag containing a debit card, credit card, trevel card, and license card. Afterwards the victim never checked the contents of her bag again for the next few days.

Until finally, a few days later, the victim was contacted by her father and told her that there was a large transaction through her credit card.

“The victim was called by his father from England that there was information from a bank that told him there were multiple transactions

with a large amount through credit cards 13 times”, said Kanitreskrim Kuta Police Iptu I Putu Ika Prabawa, Monday (11/18) afternoon.

The total amount of the transactions was approximately 22,765.42 GBP or 414,222,970 IDR.

After being told by her father, the victim immediately checked her bag and found that her credit card and England license had been lost.

For this incident, the victim reported to the Kuta Police. From the results of the investigation and armed with print out of bank transactions provided by the victim, the police immediately checked into one of the transaction located at Yulia Jewellery in Bali Galleria Mall.

The store employee said that there were indeed transactions carried out by two women who were suspected as one foreigner and one citizen.

Based on CCTV recordings, the identity of both was revealed. Police also checked at other transaction located at Nike in Bali Galleria Mall, OKe Shop, and Athena Jewellery.

The police moved quickly to find the whereabouts of the two suspects. Finally, Thursday (10/31) around 22:00 the police detained Roughaya Abeidi at the Vila De Bale Legian Kuta, for questioning.

“An Indonesian citizen who accompanied the accused at the time of the transaction was considered only a witness. The alleged perpetrator claimed she found the victim’s credit card on the road. She found it on a street but she didn’t know the name on the card. However, we are still investigating this statement”, said Iptu Ika Prabawa.

From this arrest, the police secured additional evidence in the form of gold jewellery such as necklaces, earrings and rings.

In addition, shopping receipts in a number of stores where the alleged perpetrators conduct transactions. She was charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code a charged that carries the penalty of five years in prison.
