Homes Well-known Artists in Jakarta Flooded
JAKARTA – Heavy rains that began on New Years Eve in Jakarta became a disaster for some well-known Indonesian artists. Their homes were flooded and as a result, furniture was damaged by the flood-water and some even lost their belongings entirely from the rapidly moving water.

Singer Yuni Shara uploaded first signs of damage from the floods through her Instagram account @yunishara36 showing a video of the garden in her house which was already flooded.
Yuni Shara’s house is in the Ragunan area of South Jakarta. “This is 2020,” Yuni wrote as quoted by Kompas on Wednesday (1/1).
In the next video, Yuni points the camera at the ceiling inside her house where apparently showing how high the water had reached in the house. “There are light waves on the roof. The reflection of the water below … aka flooding,” wrote Yuni.
Interestingly, not long after Yuni Shara uploaded a photo standing in the flood in her house in a blue and white striped shirt, torn jeans shorts, and boots.
As Yuni Shara poses in the hallway of her room. The flooding is clearly visible along with a number of furniture items such as tables to sofas where soaked. Despite the floods, Yuni Shara tries to remain grateful at the beginning of 2020. “Thank God … Thank you 2019 Welcome 2020,” she wrote.
From the comments column it is also known that the former lover of host Raffi Ahmad was electrocuted when the flood struck. “It was electrocuted earlier,” said Yuni.
Another flood victim is D’AMasiv vocalist, Rian Ekky Pradipta. Some objects in Rian’s house, located in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, were swept away by the current.
“Refrigerators and others have been washed away,” Rian said when contacted by reporters via WhatsApp, Wednesday (1/1).
Rian left around 04.00 WIB from his house due to work and shortly thereafter, the situation in Kemang worsened and the place was covered with water. Some family members are still there and trapped inside the house.
“I have work to do so I have to leave the house, flood floods,” Rian said as quoted by Vivews.
He said the area where he lived had never been flooded this badly. Previously it had been flooded in 2014 and never experienced it again. Rian also uploaded a photo of carrying a number of household items away from the flooded residence.
“Because I have to work, I can’t help but go through the floods that entered the house” Rian wrote on his Instagram.
A professional colleague, Ari Lasso joined in asking Rian’s condition. From their chat in the comments column, it was revealed that the flood in Rian’s house had covered the entire the ground floor.
Floods in the Kemang area are indeed quite high. From several citizen uploads, the flood is more than 100 centimeters. Citizens’ activities were paralyzed because the road could not be traversed.
Presenter Nycta Gina also became a victim of the flood. Through his upload on Instagram he described the condition of the water in his garage that had soaked his car and motorcycle. Rizky Kinos’s wife also called it a new year gift.
“New year’s gift … Inna Lillahi wa innaa ilaihi raaji’uun …,” he wrote as quoted from seconds. While 2020 is a special year for Nicky Tirta, because this is the first time his house has been flooded. He also wrote that during the 28 years of living there only this time he experienced flooding at his residence in the Kemang area, South Jakarta.
