Bali Needs Disaster App on Mobile Phones – Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency Needs Disaster Application that Alerts to Citizens’ Mobile Phones.
DENPASAR – Disaster risks such as floods, landslides during the rainy season, until the event of fallen trees, and missing persons are very high in the province of Bali.
The Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bali Province, Made Rentin, appealed that tourism actors also care about the potential for disasters that will arise. Especially for the location that is visited by many tourists. The following explanation :
1. A total of 435 emergency events (ESR / Emergency Service Response) handled by the Regional Disaster Management Agency for a year
The Provincial Disaster Management Agency of Bali has handled 435 emergency events, 16 of which involved foreign nationals. Most of the incidents involving foreigners were caused by daily traffic accidents and emergency services.
Recorded, the handling of incidents in the area of Denpasar totaling 234 traffic accidents, 176 evacuation activities, 16 examination of sick clients, three incidents of residents falling at home, four incidents of falling trees, and two incidents of fire.
Meanwhile reported from all districts in Bali, the incidence of fallen trees dominated up to 620 events, followed by 264 fires and 75 landslides.
“More foreign victims are not natural disasters. For example like people lost in the waves, falling from ships. There are several events like that”, he explained.
2. The need for signs at tourist sites and maximize education to the community
Rentin revealed the need to install signs so that tourists do not cross the specified limits, in order to maintain safety. Like travel in Nusa Penida, which is often reported by people falling and missing.
“There are a lot of events. Signs should have been installed. Lots of people go there. It means that if we talk about profit, the security side must be prioritized”, he stressed.
In addition, education to the public regarding disasters must also be maximized in order to recognize each type of disaster. And more importantly, accurate information from BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency). Likewise, certification of disaster in places where tourists stay.
3. The Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency wants a disaster application that alerts people to mobile phones
The Regional Disaster Management Agency actually wants to create a disaster app that alerts directly on people’s mobile phones, and can be accessed more easily.
Given the disaster in Bali has the potential for earthquakes and tsunamis, because it covers an area with many beaches. While in the hills potentially landslides.
“For example what kind of area is this potential disaster, so there is a warning system. When there is an earthquake, for example, there is a warning that the system has the potential to tsunami or not, to vibrate, for example. In the future, most will use cellphones”, he explained.
Until now the Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency has installed nine tsunami sirens, six volcano sirens, four ambulances, two water tankers, and one unit of a public kitchen car.

JAKARTA – Heavy rains that began on New Years Eve in Jakarta became a disaster for some well-known Indonesian artists. Their homes were flooded and as a result, furniture was damaged by the flood-water and some even lost their belongings entirely from the rapidly moving water.
Singer Yuni Shara uploaded first signs of damage from the floods through her Instagram account @yunishara36 showing a video of the garden in her house which was already flooded.
Yuni Shara’s house is in the Ragunan area of South Jakarta. “This is 2020,” Yuni wrote as quoted by Kompas on Wednesday (1/1).
In the next video, Yuni points the camera at the ceiling inside her house where apparently showing how high the water had reached in the house. “There are light waves on the roof. The reflection of the water below … aka flooding,” wrote Yuni.
Interestingly, not long after Yuni Shara uploaded a photo standing in the flood in her house in a blue and white striped shirt, torn jeans shorts, and boots.
Yuni Shara was electrocuted, Rian D’Masiv’s furniture was washed away
As Yuni Shara poses in the hallway of her room. The flooding is clearly visible along with a number of furniture items such as tables to sofas where soaked. Despite the floods, Yuni Shara tries to remain grateful at the beginning of 2020. “Thank God … Thank you 2019 Welcome 2020,” she wrote.
From the comments column it is also known that the former lover of host Raffi Ahmad was electrocuted when the flood struck. “It was electrocuted earlier,” said Yuni.
Another flood victim is D’AMasiv vocalist, Rian Ekky Pradipta. Some objects in Rian’s house, located in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, were swept away by the current.
“Refrigerators and others have been washed away,” Rian said when contacted by reporters via WhatsApp, Wednesday (1/1).
Rian left around 04.00 WIB from his house due to work and shortly thereafter, the situation in Kemang worsened and the place was covered with water. Some family members are still there and trapped inside the house.
“I have work to do so I have to leave the house, flood floods,” Rian said as quoted by Vivews.
He said the area where he lived had never been flooded this badly. Previously it had been flooded in 2014 and never experienced it again. Rian also uploaded a photo of carrying a number of household items away from the flooded residence.
“Because I have to work, I can’t help but go through the floods that entered the house” Rian wrote on his Instagram.
A professional colleague, Ari Lasso joined in asking Rian’s condition. From their chat in the comments column, it was revealed that the flood in Rian’s house had covered the entire the ground floor.
Floods in the Kemang area are indeed quite high. From several citizen uploads, the flood is more than 100 centimeters. Citizens’ activities were paralyzed because the road could not be traversed.
Presenter Nycta Gina also became a victim of the flood. Through his upload on Instagram he described the condition of the water in his garage that had soaked his car and motorcycle. Rizky Kinos’s wife also called it a new year gift.
“New year’s gift … Inna Lillahi wa innaa ilaihi raaji’uun …,” he wrote as quoted from seconds. While 2020 is a special year for Nicky Tirta, because this is the first time his house has been flooded. He also wrote that during the 28 years of living there only this time he experienced flooding at his residence in the Kemang area, South Jakarta.

‘Like a wild bull’: Shirtless man attempts to roundhouse kick scooter driver in Bali
According to Australian News site 9news, Another Crazed Tourist has Attacked Locals in Bali. The man went on a street rampage in Bali, hurling wooden planks at innocent bystanders and attempting to kick a scooter driver.
The early morning spree by the shirtless man – who witnesses said was visiting from Australia – lasted for more than two hours in the resort district of Seminyak.
“He had two huge pieces of timber and was swinging them around at the locals,” an Australian witness, who didn’t want to be named, told 9News.
“I saw him try to use that piece of wood and sort of spear throw it at people on bikes.
“He started charging like some sort of wild bull at them.
“Two blocks up he was smashing front doors and they were saying ‘no no that’s a hotel’.”
Mobile phone vision, obtained by 9News, showed the man executing a roundhouse kick that narrowly missed a scooter driver who was attempting to avoid him on a street called Jalan Drupadi.
The attacker was heard yelling “I’m a one-man army, come at me, come and stab me”.
A group of local security guards had no luck restraining him before he eventually fled.
The witness who spoke to 9News said that during a brief conversation with the man a couple of days earlier he’d mentioned he lived in Sydney and was originally from New Zealand.
It’s understood no-one was injured in the frenzy.
Police said they’re yet to launch an investigation because no official complaints have been made, but had this warning for tourists as 2500 officers were deployed ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations:
“While they stay in Bali they have to respect law enforcement,” Inspector General Petrus Reinhard Golose said. “They have to understand that Bali is safe to visit and we’re going to protect you while you are in Bali.”

Buleleng Police are investigating the case of man who allegedly raped and impregnated his 17 year-old stepdaughter
Buleleng Police are investigating the case of a 54-year-old man who allegedly raped his 17 year-old stepdaughter, who is now seven months pregnant.
“We’re still questioning witnesses, and the suspect is still in custody at the Jembrana Police station,” Buleleng Police spokesman I Gede Sumarjaya told Kompas.
Sumarjaya explained that a report regarding the case was filed earlier this month and police are currently investigating. The man, identified only by his initials GS, is being held at the Jembrana Police station for an unrelated robbery charge.
Police said GS first raped his step daughter, identified by her initial S, in April of 2019. GS reportedly raped S a total of five times, coercing her to be intimate when his wife was away and the house was empty.
According to a report from Nusa Bali, GS married the girl’s mother six years ago and was often home alone with S because he only does odd jobs.
“He threatened the victim so she would not tell anyone about his lewd acts. The victim was afraid of him so she complied,” Dewa Sudiasa, who is also from Buleleng Police, told Nusa Bali.
Sudiasa explained that the girl’s uncle filed the police report after he grew suspicious of his niece’s growing belly.

Bali Records 5th Highest Rate of HIV/AIDS in Indonesia
Bali recorded over 22 thousand HIV/AIDS cases, the 5th highest rate in Indonesia
Bali has among the highest number of people living or lived with HIV in Indonesia, according to the Bali chapter of the AIDS Commission (KPA).
On Saturday, KPA Bali announced that it has updated its tally of HIV/AIDS sufferers in the province to 22,034 as of November 2019, from when the data was first recorded in 1987.
“Based on the number of cases on the national scale, Bali placed fifth after Jakarta and West Java,” KPA Bali official Made Suprapta said, as quoted by Radar Bali.
Referring to data by Bali’s Health Agency, most HIV infections on the island were caused by unsafe sexual practices. Most of the infections occurred in heterosexual relations with 16.808 total cases (76.3 percent), followed by homosexual relations with 3,247 cases (14.7 percent) and bisexual relations with 110 cases (0.5 percent).
Furthermore, the data showed that needle sharing (mostly for drug abuse) and perinatal transmissions were among minor causes of HIV infections.
“The virus can be transmitted to people of all ages, but the data shows that the age group with the highest potential of being infected by HIV/AIDS is the productive age, between 15 to 60 years old,” Suprapta said.
The commission is urging Bali citizens — especially those who are sexually active — to get routinely tested for HIV. Despite the high number of sufferers, the commission says that Bali’s medical facilities are still well equipped to treat those with HIV/AIDS.
