Kids Stuff To Do Ganesha Bookshop

Ganesha Bookshop is a well-known, much-loved new and second-hand bookshop in Ubud. In addition to a wide range of new books on Bali and Indonesia, the store stocks a range of second-hand books, mostly in English, but also in other languages. All the books that people have been meaning to read for a while and buy to read on holiday wind up here after they’ve been read, so you can find classics and current best-sellers, as well as Ubud Writer Festival favorites.

Ganesha Books runs a literacy project for Balinese kids, called Books For Bali. The goal of the program is to “foster literacy, learning and a love of reading throughout the Balinese community.”

You can buy books in the store or online through their website, Books For Bali, to donate to the program. They need dictionaries, picture books, story books, folk tales and children’s books in both English and Indonesian.

For children they recommend dictionaries, picture books, stories, folktales and children’s books for ages 4 to 12 years. We have a selection of bilingual (Indonesian/English), Bahasa Indonesian and English books from which to choose.

For young people in high school they recommend dictionaries, non-fiction, and Indonesian fiction, poetry and prose.

For adults in rehabilitation they recommend Indonesian Fiction, Poetry and Prose.

Ganesha Bookshop is on the corner of Jalan Raya Ubud and Jalan Jembawan, in Ubud, just near the main Post Office.

The innovative Bali Bird Park arrived on Bali’s eco-tourism scene more than 20 years ago. Our current owners, who have a life-long passion for all things avian, are committed to the preservation, conservation and breeding not just of Indonesia’s exotic bird life, but from other regions too. We continue to improve the experience – for our birds as well as for our visitors.

Facilities

Bali Bird Park is divided into regions that recreate the natural habitats of its birds, complete with indigenous plant life. So come with us on a magical journey across the Indonesian archipelago, Latin America, Africa and Australia. When it’s time for a break, stop off at our casual open-air restaurant (named after our beautiful Bali Starling) and enjoy local and international dishes. Or stop at our Rainforest Café for a refreshing tropical juice or a cooling homemade ice cream. If you are looking for a different visual experience, visit our 4D air-conditioned cinema. Watch one of the surround-sound films centered around birds on show here. For something a little different, visit the adjacent Reptile Park with the most complete collection of reptiles in Southeast Asia. See the 8-meter reticulated python, an extensive collection of Indonesian monitor lizards as well as the world-renowned prehistoric  and huge Komodo Dragons.

Breeding and conservation

Bali Bird Park plays a key role in protecting and conserving Indonesia’s endangered wildlife. We have successfully bred many species, including the rare Pesquet’s Parrot and numerous Bali Starlings, bred mainly to support local release programs. We accommodate more than 40 species of protected Indonesian birds in the park, a growing number of which are now breeding successfully under the care of our staff.

Flight Bird Show. Marvel at our free flight show featuring macaws, storks, cockatoos and other birds as they soar through the sky – an amazing opportunity to see so many different birds in one environment.

Komodo Experience

Come join our keeper as he feeds our resident Komodo dragons, giant monitor lizards that are direct descendants of the dinosaurs that lived nearly 100 million years ago.

Get up close and personal with our spectacular macaws and colorful cockatoos who will perch on your shoulder for a photo opportunity. Come meet the impressive wreathed hornbills. And our friendly Eclectus Parrot couple – the male is bright emerald green and his mate is scarlet red.

Encounter the true stars of the park – they are our cheeky entertainers who adore the limelight. They include Anna-Maria – our Black Palm Cockatoo – and our impressive Wreathed Hornbills. A number of our bird stars have been hand-reared in captivity, which means they are completely at ease with human contact.

Flamingo Beach Club Saba Beach – Flamingo Bali Beach Club managed by the Bali Zoo is now open to the public since 12 January 2019.

The Beach Club, located in the village of Saba, Blahbatu, carries a family friendly concept equipped with various child friendly facilities .
