Balingkang Kintamani Festival on Februari 8 th 2020  at Geopark in Kintamani, Bangli The event was held to target the Chinese tourist market which had the potential to travel to the Island of the Gods.
In the previous year  a similar festival had been successfully held under the name Balingkang Festival. Not much different from 2019, the Kintamani Chinese Festival also features a parade as a form of cultural acculturation between China and Bali that has existed since ancient times and is still being hereditary until now.
The provincial government of Bali has teamed up with Asita who handles Chinese tourists to bring in around 1,500 tourists to watch the parade. “It is also possible that the number of tourists who come can be even more so that the echo of this festival can be wider in the international world. The show that tourists could see from the Bamboo Curtain Country was a traditional performance of Bali and China. “So we want the Balinese to be able to watch shows from China and vice versa, tourists can watch traditional Balinese performances, so we hope that there will be a cultural exchange here,” he said.
In addition to the performing arts, a different thing was also found at this festival, namely the kintamani dog parade. “As we know, the Kintamani breed is a native species of Kintamani which we need to preserve and introduce to the world,” he said.
The former head of Bali’s Bappeda hopes that through the festival the presence of kintamani dogs will be known and will be on par with world-class dogs. The Kintamani Chinese Festival, said Astawa, can be witnessed free of charge and open to all groups. It is hoped that the Balinese people as well as domestic and foreign tourists can watch the festival.

World Cultural Festival hosted

The Bali provincial government says it’s aiming to stay relevant through the promotion of culture across different aspects of society, with plans in place to host a festival celebrating world cultures in November.

Speaking at an event in Denpasar earlier today, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster pointed out Bali’s relatively small presence in Indonesia, in terms of land and population.

“If we don’t try to find [potential] from culture, what else is there? If not, we will be underestimated. Our voice is small, politically. That’s why we need to find other valuable means to increase Bali’s relevance,” Koster said, as quoted by Kumparan.

“Bali’s culture must be developed earnestly. Because e here in Bali don’t have other resources. Other regions have mines, oil, gas, coal, gold. We don’t have that in Bali, what we have is culture.”

Bali’s unique culture, alongside the island’s extensive natural beauty, has arguably been one of the island’s assets in attracting travelers from across the globe. While that’s not exactly a secret, Koster seems determined to further develop Balinese culture in a way that will also contribute handsomely to the province’s economy.

For now, the plan includes standardizing art studios and groups on the island by way of accreditation, which would give them a chance to also go on cultural diplomacy tours abroad in the future, Koster said.

Furthermore, his administration is currently preparing the concept for a World Cultural Festival here in Bali, which would be an international-scale event involving participants from other countries promoting their respective cultures.

I Wayan “Kun” Adnyana, who heads the Cultural Agency in Bali, said the festival aims to serve as a new platform for the Island of the Gods to be known as a world cultural hub.
