General Manager of PLN UID Bali, Nyoman Suwarjoni Astawa, said that this time around 13 thousand seedlings were planted in partnership with the Wanasari Ecotourism Fishermen Group, Tuban. This was also done to coincide with the National Tree Planting Day 2019 and PLN throughout Indonesia participated in planting trees.

“We from PLN Bali hope that this place which was once a mangrove forest area can return green and restore its habitat”, said Nyoman Suwarjoni after planting mangrove seedlings.

Nyoman Suwarjoni asserted, PLN Bali also has social and environmental functions, one of them which is through environmental services like this. To support the restoration of mangrove forests, on this occasion PLN Bali also handed over aid to preserve the planting and maintenance of mangrove seedlings in the amount of IDR 120 million.

“Today we have also submitted it to the Wanasari Fishermen Group and hope that the mangrove seeds that we planted can grow optimally so that our earth will return to green and our ecosystems will also be able to develop properly”, said the man from Seririt, Buleleng.

PLN Bali Plant 13 Thousand Seeds

According to him, planting of mangrove tree seeds carried out by PLN Bali and the Wanasari Fishermen Group in the morning to avoid high tides. Planting is done in the middle of the sea when the water is receding, or about 200 meters from the beach.

“We have jointly planted mangrove seedlings and will then be continued and cared for by friends of the Wanasari Fishermen Group. We were very impressed because there were some mangrove trees that were not very tall but were around 4-5 years old”, he said.

On this occasion, Nyoman Suwarjoni regretted the damage that occurred in the area of mangrove forests because of human activity that only concerned with the economy but ignored nature and the environment. Even though to be able to grow optimally, mangroves need a long time to grow.

He further explained that Mangrove plants as one of the plants that have sturdy roots, also have a function as a barrier to sea waves, a storm and tsunami barrier. Therefore, Nyoman Suwarjoni said that mangrove forests are the main ecosystem that supports life mainly in coastal areas.

PLN Bali Plant 13 Thousand Seeds

“We hope that the mangrove trees that we plant today can grow optimally. Because we know that only about 10 to 20 percent of mangrove seedlings can grow. The main enemy is weeds because it covers the seedlings so the seeds become hot and cannot breathe and then fall out and dry”, explained Nyoman Suwarjoni.

To that end, Nyoman Suwarjoni invites all parties to actively participate in protecting the mangrove forest area as a habitat or place for marine animals to protect and breed, as well as for tourism and education.

As is known, Mangroves are dicotyledonous plants that live in brackish habitat. Mangrove forests are tropical coastal vegetation communities that are able to grow and develop in muddy coastal tides. There are many benefits of mangroves on marine and coastal ecosystems. Among them protect the land from erosion and abrasion, prevent intrusion of seawater, and as a place to live and breed a variety of wildlife such as fish, shrimp, crabs and birds. Mangrove forests also provide benefits for education and tourism.

The combined of Search And Rescue (SAR) team in Jembrana Regency continues to search for the Banjar Melaya Pantai fishermen, Melaya Village / District, Jembrana, Hasan Sidik (49), who were reported missing in the middle of Melaya Pantai waters, Monday (11/25) afternoon.

NEGARA – The search on the third day, Wednesday (11/27) afternoon, has not yielded results. Coordinator of Jembrana Search and Relief Post, I Komang Sudiarsa, said that in searching for the victim, 2 rubber boats were deployed. In addition to rubber boats from the National Search and Relief Agency (BNPP), a rubber boat from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jembrana was also deployed. “We continue to maximize the search together with BPBD, water police unit, Navy. Every day, we continue to expand the search area. We go down twice a day, with a sweeping time of three hours per fall”, he said.

In addition to officers, according to Sudiarsa, on the part of the victim’s family also sought to search the sea. In fact, from the family who had asked for instructions shaman or paranormal, had a chance to search up to the Muncar waters in Banyuwangi, East Java. But the search effort also has not produced results. “We from SAR and BPBD have also expanded the search area. Finally, eastward to the Pebuahan waters (Banyubiru Village, Negara District). “Westward to the waters of Tuwed (Tuwed Village, Melaya District)”, he said.

During the search, information was distributed to the fishermen. But there is currently no information on fishermen who see people drowning or floating in the sea. “We will schedule the search for seven days until Sunday (1/12). What is certain is that we will continue to maximize our search as much as we can, and hopefully before the seventh day, victims can be found”, he hoped.

Missing Fishermen Still Not Found Part II

While the Chairman of the Jembrana Water Police unit Iptu H Eddy Waluyo said Wednesday the case of fishermen lost in the middle of the sea, this has repeatedly happened in Jembrana. Previously, a fisherman from Banjar Pebuahan, Banyubiru Village, Negara District, Jembrana, Mulyadi (23), was also reported missing in the middle of Ketapang Lampu waters, Pengambengan Village, Negara District, Jembrana, Sunday (9/22), and also had not been found until this time. The cause of the missing victim is also not known with certainty. He considered, the incident of this missing fisherman could actually be anticipated if the fishermen were aware of the importance of using personal safety equipment in the form of a life jacket.

“In addition to fishermen, previously there were also passenger ships crossing over the Bali Strait. We ourselves see, if incidents like this, one of them is also caused by ignoring the factor of personal safety. At a minimum use a life jacket for safety at sea. We often remind fishermen, but there are still many who ignore. We have even handed over life jacket and life buoy assistance, but the reason is complicated”, he said.

Aside from being obliged to wear a life jacket, said Iptu Eddy, to anticipate similar incidents, he hoped that the fishermen would not go out to sea by themselves. “At least the two of them, so if there is an incident in the middle of the sea, there is someone who knows and helps. This often happens. Going to sea by himself, suddenly his boat bobbed in the middle of the sea. Finally, no one knows where the location of the fall, and do not know how it happened. So it’s better to anticipate, safety first”, he said.

The museum room contains documentation of acts of terrorism from 2002 to 2019. Starting from the Bali bombing one to a suicide bombing in Medan a few weeks ago.

In fact, a number of replicas and photographs of the Bali Bombing 1 and 2 events are also on display at the museum. Including photos of the arrest of the perpetrators and the mastermind of terror.

“So, this is the first in Indonesia that was first exposed to the world about combating terrorism”, said Bali Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Petrus Reinhard Golose after inaugurating the museum building.

The Terrorism Prevention Museum is Inaugurated

According to the shoulder of the two-star general, the museum reminds Indonesians, especially Bali, that terrorists are common enemies, not just enemies of law enforcement.

“Because with various excuses they (terrorists) will change the basis of our country. So we must jointly remember what was done by law enforcement, anti-terror task force, National Counter terrorism Agency (BNPT), and all stakeholders”, he said.

In addition to civil society, said the general from Manado, North Sulawesi, many police officers also died and were injured due to terrorist acts. Especially now, the terrorists change their mode of operation, by attacking the police.

“The museum is officially open to the public. It is educative, this explains a great deal of digitally forensic science, analysis, learning as well as dangerous goods. Then we also see that this is to commemorate the history that began in Bali in 2002”, he concluded.

JAKARTA – Academics and business practitioner Rhenald Kasali advised business operators in the tourism sector to be aware of the surge in tourists ahead of the year-end holidays. Because, travelers want a happy atmosphere and make the best use of vacation time. If there are too many tourists, tourists will lose hope.

Likewise, locals are not likely to be angry if the tourists behave arbitrarily. “The surge in travelers at the end of the year can disperse that hope. Traffic will be everywhere and there will be nowhere if the carrying capacity is not increased”, Rhenald Kasali said in a press release on Wednesday (11/27/2019). Rhenald gave an example, the anger of local residents had occurred in a variety of leading tourist destinations. Call it Venice, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Croatia.

The issue is traffic jams, prices soar, tourist attractions are only made selfies, and littering. To alleviate this, finally the mayors in various places took the attitude to remember turmoil not only in the real world, but also the virtual world. “They finally took a stand to limit tourist arrivals, even cruise ships were subject to high premiums. The spread of Airbnb was limited. Prohibitions were issued to protect city dwellers from discomfort”, Rhenald said.

Then what about Indonesia? When referring to the Tourism Density Index data released by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the surge of tourists to Indonesia is not as high as the cities of Croatia , Iceland, Denmark, Singapore, Greece and Spain.

Bali Needs to Be aware of Overcrowded Tourism

Indonesia’s ratio at level 23 is still be aligned with potential tourism countries such as Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania. However, Indonesia’s tourist destinations must be vigilant given the very high enthusiasm of local travelers. The number of visits by domestic tourists has sped so fast following the improvement in infrastructure, the presence of low cost carriers, sharing rides, and sharing-based apartments.

“Density index on tourism in Bali has reached an alarming number, which is ranked 4th. Moreover, the carrying capacity of Bali for infrastructure development is somewhat limited, while the power of Bali’s Enchantment as a major world visit destination continues to improve”, said Rhenald. Create a new Bali Therefore, Rhenald suggested that planners and regional leaders need to be careful in welcoming the new era of millennial arrivals.

Businessmen also need to change their strategy by creating a new Bali. “Bali tourism entrepreneurs need to change their strategy from exploitation of Bali to become orchestra-tors who also take tourists to new destinations outside Bali, to get new sources of income”, advises Rhenald. As for the government, it seems willing to create a New Bali standard that is not inferior to the current Bali. “The state needs to create a standard for new Balinese which is not far from what Bali can provide. This certainly requires a change in mindset and entrepreneurship”, he concluded.

“Our observation, the visit of Chinese tourists compared to last year is indeed declining”, stressed the Acting Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Putu Astawa, Monday (11/25/2019) in Badung.

This is due to many factors. Among them the situation of the American and Chinese trade wars. Then economic growth in almost the entire world was revised down. So that tourist income is also disrupted, and impact on the tourism sector including Bali.

“This is inseparable from global economic factors”, he added.

For this reason, promotion and efforts to bring in foreign tourists, especially from China, are needed. Moreover, he said, outbound Chinese tourists reached 150 million. But only 3% came to Indonesia and Bali.

Astawa, his nickname, appreciated the Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) initiated by Bidadari Travel. This famtrip, which brings direct travel agents from China, is expected to help promote Bali.

“Through this Famtrip, travel agents can directly see tourist destinations in Bali. From that experience, they are expected to be able to promote Bali in their country”, he explained.

In addition to bringing tourists, he hopes to be able to increase the length of stay and spending money on Chinese tourists.

“In 2019, the target of foreign tourists is around 6.4 million in total. Because until October 2019 only 5 million foreign tourists. So that in November and December the hopes can go up to more than 6 million”, he said.

Next year projection, he said, could be 7 million with various efforts through Famtrip promotions and so on. He hopes the growth of the arrival of foreign tourists every year can rise 20%.

Especially lately Chinese tourists, he said, decreased from 10 to 15 percent compared to last year.

Targeting 5,000 tourists

Business Travel Agent Bidadari, Sumariyanto, initiated this Famtrip as an effort to strengthen the fabric of Bali and China.

“I then conveyed the idea to the Provincial Government of Bali and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and found support”, he said.

He hopes that Chinese tourists who come, understand more about Bali. Moreover, there is a cultural bond between China and Bali. Like the story of Sampik Ing Tai, then traces of the past relics in the Balingkang inscription. And the use of perforated money, which is closely related to the influence of China in Bali. This then added the beautiful tourist destinations of Bali, both culture and nature to make Chinese tourists more happy.

The election of the Hangzhou region, he said, was for this Famtrip because this region became a very fast and developed economic center in China.

The hope will be able to bring quality tourists to Bali. “So we hope that from this Famtrip, next year in February it can bring 4,000 to 5,000 Chinese guests to Bali”, he said.

There were 45 participants from Hangzhou travel agents who came. After this, he will conduct sales missions to 4 cities in China. “This famtrip is all the owner of a travel agent in China”, he added.

This famtrip was held for six days and five nights, and participants were invited to visit Ubud, Nusa Penida, Kintamani, and take part in a socialization with hotels in Bali. He hopes this cooperation will be able to increase tourist arrivals to 18 million throughout Indonesia this year.

“Input from travel in China, is also competing Bali competitors like Thailand and Vietnam in the promotion. Of course, I ask for government support so that Bali is not defeated”, he said.

Ministry of Tourism Support

The Deputy Assistant for Marketing Development II Regional I of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Utari, said that the target of Chinese tourists in 2019 would be around 2,8 million in Indonesia.

“This is for the great target of China, consisting of tourists from China, Hong Kong and Macau”, he said.

Until now, only around 1.6 million have come. So that until the end of the year, the possibility of this target has not been met. He said this happened in several countries not only Indonesia.

“Indeed, this is because the Chinese economy is slowing down, and there are directions for domestic travel there. In order to help the internal economy”, explained Utari.

The support of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, he said, on this Famtrip is because it has the potential to increase the visit of Chinese tourists to Bali.

Thereby increasing the amount of foreign exchange earnings of the country, moreover foreign exchange targets from tourism reached hundreds of trillions.

He said the quality and quantity of foreign tourists was very important. Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also, aggressively conducting sales missions, consumer selling, exhibitions, to festivals other than this Famtrip.
