International Airlines entering Bali only expected from January 2022 says the president of state-airport operator Angkasa Pura I Faik Fahmi on November 21 th 2021 . Airlines need time to process the permits. Especially after the Indonesian government had only opened the flight route as early as October 14.  Angkasa noted the earliest would likely be the end of this year but international airlines would start by opening chartered flights instead of traditional commercial flights. There are a number of airlines but I can’t reveal it just yet as it has yet been finalized.

Limited availability of international airlines serving direct flights to Bali is also due to the limited countries that the Indonesian government allows, which is 19. These countries were chosen because of its low risk Covid-19 status according to the WHO which among others include China, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Poland.

 Until now, no party activities have been allowed, there are even official letters from several hotels, asking us. The leadership’s direction is that we wait for the development of the national task force, and until now there has been no official permit by the National Task Force for party events including welcoming 2022 ,

Bali Airport without flight slots exactly two weeks after international flights from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali reopened on October 14, 2021, there has not been a single international airline landing on the runway of Bali’s International Airport and  not been a single airline that has proposed a flight time slot to the airport. This was announced Taufan Yudhistira, the Stakeholder Relations Manager of  Bali Airport on Thursday (28/10/2021).

Taufan said that   the process of submitting an international flight slot time is carried out directly by airlines and the process is quite long because they also have to register with the IASM or Indonesia Airport Slot Management organization. Airlines must simultaneously submit a slot time application letter to the Ministry of Transportation, There are at least three agencies they need to write to from the Ministry of Transportation says Taufan. It would take at least 7-14 days from registering to getting approval to fly. If there are international airlines that apply for a slot time today, then at least they will only get approval and make flights at least a week after or seven days after the request.

While being asked about the preparations made by Bali Airport authority to welcome international passengers, Taufan said that his party is wel prepared and he also counting
on flights from  Australia. The second largest tourist market for Bali, Australia is said to have lifted the ban on foreign travel for its citizens including to Indonesia from November 1, 2021. It will be interesting to see if this policy will immediately make Australian tourists the first to set foot at Ngurah Rai Airport.

Travel bubble with Bali approved for fully vaccinated Australians from November 1 st 2021 without quarantining on return. The PM has moved to scrap the final bit of red tape stopping Aussies from travelling overseas days before the border reopens, after Jetstar launches a huge sale. Australians will be able to fly to Bali from Sydney for as little as $159 one way on some Jetstar routes from February and will no longer be required to seek an exemption to leave the country.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed today that Australia will scrap the final red tape hurdle for the vaccinated. The change means double vaccinated Australians will be eligible for international travel without seeking a travel exemption. Speaking on Sunrise, Mr Morrison confirmed the change adding that new travel bubble arrangements with Singapore were imminent.“Over half a million Australians have already been able to download the international vaccination certificate,” he said. “We are getting very close now to a reciprocal arrangement with Singapore.”

The change has prompted Jetstar and Qantas to offer major discounts to get Australians travelling again with cheap deals to Hawaii, Japan, Singapore, Bali, New Zealand, Fiji and Thailand. While the Prime Minister has previously announced that international border bans will be lifted on November 1, the requirement that Australians need an exemption under biosecurity laws to leave their own country remains in place. That means travellers rushing to book flights have found they face delays and red tape in securing approval from the Department of Home Affairs to leave the country. All travel exemption requests currently need to be submitted at least two weeks prior to travel under the rules although exceptions on compassionate grounds are considered.

The controversial ban on Australians leaving their own country came into force on August 11 under an amendment to the Biosecurity Determination 2020. The rules meant that Australian citizens and permanent residents ordinarily resident in a country outside Australia would not be automatically exempt from Australia’s outward travel restrictions.On October 1, the Prime Minister announced fully vaccinated Australian citizens and permanent residents would soon be eligible for international travel without seeking a travel exemption. ”It’s time to give Australians their lives back,” Mr Morrison said.

However, children under 12 who are not eligible for a vaccine will still be able to fly. Australians who are fully vaccinated will need to show proof of their vaccination status at airport check-in on departure. The Bali administration has prepared 35 quarantine hotels, located in Ubud in Gianyar regency, Nusa Dua in Badung regency and Sanur, Denpasar, all three of which are marked as “green zones”, or areas with low COVID-19 case numbers. Neighboring tourism hotspot Thailand has announced it will admit tourists without the need for quarantine, but Sandiaga said Indonesia would not be following suit anytime soon. “We are not opposed to the idea of lifting the quarantine requirement, but for now, our focus is on reopening tourism with quarantine,” he said, adding that Indonesia would start considering opening the islands of Bali and Riau for vaccinated tourists with no quarantine once the ministry had “data to back it up”. “We would like to remind everyone that we are in the middle of a pandemic, and we want to make sure that health and safety are our priority until the pandemic is over,” Sandiaga added.
