Denpasar – Rabies is still the biggest scourge for pets like dogs and cats in Bali. Since Bali Province was designated as a rabies quarantine area in 2008 until now, all efforts related to rabies prevention have continued.

As was done on Saturday (11/16/2019) night, the Denpasar Agricultural Quarantine worker in the Ngurah Rai working area together with Avsec Ngurah Rai prevented (banned) a cat from Ukraine to enter Bali region.

This rejection was carried out pursuant to Law Number 21 Year 2019 concerning Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine and Minister of Agriculture Decree Number 1696 / Kpts / PD.610 / 12/2008 concerning the Establishment of Bali Province as a Quarantine Zone in Rabies.

According to this regulation, rabies-carrying media are prohibited from entering, transiting in, and removing from quarantine areas. The cat that was still in the arrival hall of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was immediately subject to a quarantine act of rejection. The owner also agreed.

Quarantine officials then escort directly to ensure the cat is returned to its home country. The Denpasar Agricultural Quarantine will continue to make efforts according to its duties and functions to break the chain of the spread of rabies.

That way, Bali is expected to become a province with rabies free.
