Turtle stranded on Balangan Beach about 100 meters offshore from the Pecatu fishing area. The leatherback turtle was immediately evacuated and buried by the residents. on Sunday afternoon (18/10/2020) . The Leatherback turtle was found dead by local fishing man in the Village of Pecatu, on Sunday (18/10) at around 15.00 H . At that time, one of the fishers named I Wayan Wetra saw something floating near Pura Balangan. He rushed with his partner to inspect the unknown object and discovered the leartherback turtle who was already dead before reaching the shoreline.

The Leatherback turtle was then evacuated to Balangan Beach and buried by local residents buried after a ceremony at 4 PM. There was no clarification what caused the death of the leatherback turtle and on Monday afternoon 19/10/2020 the Head of BKSDA Bali, R Agus Budi Sentosa deployed a team to carry out a search for other leatherback turtles but didn’t find any other dead turtle carcasses.
