Russian yoga teachers arrested who arrived in Bali on March 4 th 2020 on tourist visa are now temporarily detained at the Immigration Detention center in Denpasar The two Russian foreigners , Rodion Antonkin, 40, and his female companion, Albana Mukhamadullina, 31, were arrested by Bali Immigration agents from Gianyar area last Tuesday (21/07/2020).Both were arrested for misusing their stay permit, by conducting yoga activity for personal benefit.At present they are temporarily detained at the Immigration Detention House in Denpasar while waiting for the deportation process to their home country.
The head of Subdivision of PR of Reformed Bureaucracy and IT for Law and Human Rights Ministry for Bali area, I Putu Surya Dharma explained that both foreigners came to Indonesia on 4th -14th March 2020 with Visa on Arrival (VoA).During their stay in Bali, they misused the stay permit by conducting yoga activity which attracted the masses and collected fees for personal benefit at Arte Villa, Ubud, Gianyar. The Yoga activity was held since the 14th of July 2020 in Ubud, Gianyar” said Surya Dharma on Saturday afternoon (25/7). Antonkin and Albana are suspected of committing an offense of Immigration Law, Art.22, letter a Jo. Art. 75 clauses 1. However, because of lack of evidence for criminal process, both foreigners are charged for Immigration administrative which is Deportation and their names will be put on Alert List for the first attempt. Surya Dharma said that while waiting for that process, they had been put in the detention room of Immigration Office in Denpasar since Tuesday the 21st of July 2020.With various considerations, these two were taken out from the detention room of Immigration Office in Denpasar on the 24th of July 2020 and moved them to the Detention House of Bali Immigration. The transfer of the two Russians to the Detention House of Bali Immigration was done considering both foreigners do not have enough funds to return to their home country. Surya Dharma also added, “We have coordinated with the Russian Embassy for Indonesia regarding the unavailability of Russian citizen repatriation in the near future.
