British quarantine violators deported on Wednesday 26/05/2021 after failed escape attempt from Jakarta Airport taxi on 07/05/2021 The English couple Dena Elsaid Omar (39) and Merlin Wyllt (32) arrived at Jakarta Airport on May 7, 2021 on a visitors visa a for professional photo shooting trip to Bali . Both of them already made an 5 days quarantine reservation at Hotel Mercure Jakarta-Batavia as a place of quarantine.

From Jakarta Airport, Dena and Merlin headed to the hotel a Airport taxi with driver Wirman. While passing the Penjaringan area in North Jakarta, the two British citizens asked Wirman to stop and to go down to go the toilet. They also told Wirman they didn’t want to continue the trip to the hotel that they could not afford.
According the Jakarta Airport Police officer Kombes Adi Ferdian Saputra , Wirman had a dispute with two British citizens Merlin and who fled and left their three suitcases in the taxi. During their escape, Merlin and Dena moved from accommodation from Cipayung to Cisarua in the Bogor area. Wirman was still holding the British couple their luggage and reported it to the task force and the police. The two British citizens been finally arrested in Bogor on Wednesday (19/05/2021) and been accused of violating Quarantine law Article 14 paragraph 1 of Law no. 4/1984.
According the Head of TPI Immigration at Jakarta Airport, Indra Bangsawan, they were deported by the Immigration officers and put on the Singapore Airlines SQ-965 flight for the Jakarta-London route on Wednesday, 26/05/ 2021. Indra also stated on Thursday, May 27, 2021 the cost the deportation process was mainly paid by the violators who cannot enter Indonesia for 6 months.
